Giada De Laurentiis doesn’t swallow any the food she prepares on the Food Network.
The TV chef instead spits it out into a nearby bucket.
That’s the less than appetizing contention of the New York Post, which suggests that’s how Giada maintains her size 2 figure.
An insider allegedly told the Page Six gossip section of the Post about what goes on behind the scenes that allows the Food Network Star judge and cookbook author to stay so slender.
‘When Giada films her cooking show, she never eats. Never. When she is making drinks and food that she has to drink or eat, they have a dump bucket that is brought out the second they cut.’ She spits it out, and then filming resumes, the source said.”
The source also claims that an assistant, and not Giada, consumes the food when the cameras zoom in for a close-up.
The Italian cuisine expert’s rep deemed the allegation absurd, but added that “Giada tapes sometimes three episodes in one day, and they do multiple takes on a close-up of her eating. She doesn’t always eat and swallow every time, since they can do sometimes six to 10 takes with three episodes a day, and that would be like eating six to eight meals a day. . . The bottom line is, she most certainly does eat the food she prepares on the show, but does not always consume the whole dish, as that would be too much for most people to eat in one day.”
In an April 2012 interview with Health.com, Giada De Laurentits explained that along with yoga, she manages to stay slim by eating “a little bit of everything and not a lot of anything. Everything in moderation.”
In February, the Food Network personality made her modeling debut at New York Fashion week.
Responding to the Page Six item, PopSugar food editor Anna Monette Roberts suggested that there may be some validity to the story. “But here’s a reality check for the wider world out there — many people I know in the food industry spit out food on the regular, including myself… Everyone on my team, including me, has complained of gaining at least 10-15 pounds when starting the job. Yes, we chose this industry, and yes, we love to try, review, and react to delicious and terrible foods, but when there’s upward of 10, sometimes 20 foods and drinks we have to put in our mouths in a day, spitting occurs out of necessity…”
Added The Examiner: “While de Laurentiis’ use of a ‘dump bucket’ might sound odd, sources said they’re commonplace on the sets of cooking shows, when chefs must repeat many takes of the same segment and pretend to eat the same food multiple times over the course of many hours.”
Do you think that it’s plausible that Giada De Laurentiis is spitting out food that she prepares on set? In other words, do you accept or reject the skinny on Giada’s alleged eating habits?
