‘Breaking Bad’ Prequel ‘Better Call Saul’ Gets Premiere Date, New Teaser

For those of you who may still be missing Breaking Bad and hoping that the upcoming spinoff on AMC helps fill that hole in your heart, there’s some good news, as TVLine has announced Better Call Saul’s premiere date and posted a new teaser for the series.

The Breaking Bad prequel is getting a two-night premiere in February. The series premiere is Sunday, February 8, 2015 at 10 p.m., with the second episode airing the following day, Monday, February 9, at 10 p.m. The show’s regular time slot is Mondays at 10 p.m. Does the two-night premiere make the wait a bit easier?

According to the official description of the prequel, it takes place six years before the title character met Bryan Cranston’s Walter White and before the title character was even Saul Goodman.

“‘Better Call Saul’ is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny and hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside and often against Jimmy is ‘fixer’ Mike Erhmantraut, a beloved character first introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into a man who puts the ‘criminal’ in ‘criminal lawyer.'”

Along with Odenkirk as Saul, Jonathan Banks is reprising his role as Mike Erhmantraut. The other series regulars include Michael McKean (Saul’s brother Chuck McGill), Rhea Seehorn (Kim Wexler), Patrick Fabian (Howard Hamlin), and Michael Mando (Nacho Varga) as characters representing the legitimate and illegitimate sides of the law.

Entertainment Weekly has also posted a behind-the-scenes video from the Breaking Bad prequel offering an inside look at filming the series, as well as a glimpse at some of the new characters. Watch that below.

Odenkirk told the Hollywood Reporter that the series is “85 percent drama, 15 percent comedy.” The Inquisitr previously reported that this series is going to be dark. With this prequel, he gets to “dig deep,” which he didn’t get to do before as Saul. He sees the secondary character’s main job to be reacting. He also explained why he isn’t interested in “watching what he’s done – or is going to do.”

“I really don’t want to know what’s coming later and I don’t look back at what came before. I think it’s a perfectly good way to approach acting to not know what the f**k is going on.”

The last video you should watch to get excited about Better Call Saul is the music video that AMC has released, featuring an original song performed by Junior Brown, with lyrics by show creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Watch that below.
