‘Destiny: The Dark Below’ Cinematic Leaks, Watch Now

Destiny won’t receive The Dark Below expansion until next month, but one owner of the PlayStation and Xbox game stumbled upon the opening cinematic thanks to a glitch. The following could be considered spoilers so please tread carefully before continuing.

The cinematic appears to have been added as part of the content update that Bungie released for Destiny earlier in the week. It also added content for The Dark Below to make unlocking the expansion easier for its December 9 release in addition to fixing a number of issues with the game, re-working Iron Banner, and adding Voice Chat

“This is the opening cinematic for the Dark Below DLC out next month,” YouTube user Mr Jester 6598 wrote. “I can not [sic] explain how to get access to this video on the game as it was due to an error that i was able to see this.”

This isn’t the first time that something from Destiny leaked after being found in the game. Sites like DestinyDB and Destiny Tracker are dedicated to datamining the title’s code to find content. In fact, they found numerous unannounced items that were added as part of this week’s content patch.

Prior to that, a glitch allowed one Destiny player to see all the locations and content descriptions for both The Dark Below and The House of Wolves expansions in the in-orbit navigation map. That’s not to mention the various areas that players glitched into during the beta and release of the game. Bungie later defended this content already being on the disk before revealing the full details of The Dark Below.

The first expansion will contain three story missions, but evidence suggests that these won’t be the kind of story missions that we’ve gotten used to with Destiny. These are said to be multi-part quests given by the mysterious new vendor in the tower, Eris.

Destiny - Eris (PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360)

Destiny players who pick up the expansion can also expect at least one new Strike as well. Xbox One owners will get The Will of Crota while PS4 owners will get that Strike plus The Undying Mind as well as an exclusive new weapon.

And yes, the Crota’s End six-player Raid will be available for everybody and it will be loaded with new weapons and gear that will allow players to increase their Light Level to 32.

Crota himself follows the model of bosses for Destiny so far. He is a bigger and slightly different version of the Knight, just like Atheon, the Vault of Glass Raid boss, is an even bigger version of the Minotaur and Gatekeeper. Expect his gameplay mechanics to be vastly different from regular Knights though.

What do you think of the The Dark Below cinematic? Does it have you more or less hype for The Dark Below? Sound off in the comments.
