George Anthony, the grandfather of slain toddler Caylee Anthony, is now hospitalized at the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach following reports of suicide threats.

Investigators say Anthony had sent suicidal text messages to his family members and then vanished Thursday. His family reported him as a missing person. Police later found him at an abandoned model and took him into custody using the Baker Act, according to published reports.

George Anthony is said to be stable. He reportedly told police he just “needed to get away from everything.” Daytona Beach detectives tell local media outlets they believe he was contemplating taking his own life.
