‘Days Of Our Lives’ Star Freddie Smith Charged After Accident That Injured Girlfriend Alyssa Tabit
Days of Our Lives star Freddie Smith is now facing charges after a car accident that took place recently in Ohio. Freddie and his girlfriend Alyssa Tabit were both injured in the single-vehicle crash.
According to the Associated Press, Freddie Smith has been charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence along with felony vehicular assault. The accident took place on October 7 in Ashtabula County near where the soap opera star is originally from. The Days of Our Lives star lost control of his vehicle on a curve and the car veered into a culvert and flipped over.
Reports indicate that Smith, 26, was found to have a blood-alcohol level of.093 after the accident. The legal limit for Ohio is.08. While Smith’s injuries were said to be minor, Tabit, 27, was trapped in the vehicle and sustained more serious injuries.
Neither Smith or Tabit have said much publicly since the accident. Alyssa has posted a few pictures and words of thanks on her Instagram page, recently noting that she has some “pretty awesome friends.” She noted that some things her friends made her put a big smile on her face.
In addition, Freddie recently gave fans an update via his Facebook page.
“so lucky and blessed today to be lounging with Alyssa Tabit taking in the autumn day in Ohio. I can’t thank you all enough for your on going support, thoughts, and prayers!!!! I really do have the best friends and family in the world!!!! [sic]”
After the accident, Tabit was flown via helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown. She was originally listed in critical condition and little in the way of specifics have been released regarding her injuries. While it seems she is still working through her recovery, it appears she is doing much better than in the days right after the accident.
Smith has played the character of Sonny Kiriakis since 2011. His character’s romance and recent wedding to the character of Will Horton was a huge storyline for Days of Our Lives. At this point, it seems unknown how the show will handle the situation regarding Smith’s accident and absence from the show.
At this point, neither Smith or Tabit’s representatives have commented on the Days of Our Lives star’s charges or much at all regarding the accident. For now, soap fans will have to stay tuned to see what comes next regarding Freddie Smith’s charges and Alyssa Tabit’s recovery from the Ohio accident.
