Arizona Wildcats Hire Rich Rodriguez, Make The Announcement Using Twitter

The Arizona Wildcats have hired former Michigan and West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez as their new head coach for men’s football.

Making the announcement on Twitter of all places was athletic director Greg Byrne who tweeted:

“And the new Arizona football coach and his family is…….”

After those words a link was posted that when clicked took readers to a photo of Rodriguez and his family.

An official news conference will be held on Tuesday at the McKale Center where Byrne will official introduce the schools new head coach who is replacing interim leader Tim Kish.

Arizona fired head coach Mike Stoops in October after the Wildcats started off with a 1-5 record, they are currently 3-8 and 2-7 (Pac-12).

Rodriguez brings a proven track record of winning to the table having from his time at West Virginia where he took the school to four first place finishes in the Big East conference with a winning record of 60-26. However the coaches time spent at Michigan from 2008 through 2010 left him with a losing record of 15-22 including a 6-18 record in the Big Ten.

Do you think Rich Rodriquez is the right coach to get the job done in Arizona or should they have chosen another candidate?
