Walmart Hero: Missouri Teen Abby Snodgrass Administers CPR To Unresponsive Baby, Saves A Life

Seventeen-year-old Missouri teen Abby Snodgrass is being hailed a hero after she almost certainly saved the life of a little baby girl at a local Walmart. According to ABC News, the 11-month-old baby had reportedly stopped breathing while her mother had come shopping with her at the Walmart store in High Ridge, Missouri. Hearing the commotion, 17-year-old Abby rushed to the spot, only to find the mother of the little baby girl frantically trying to revive her. Surveillance video from the store also shows the mother crying out for help and trying to revive her baby.

Abby, upon reaching the motionless infant, acted quickly and almost immediately started administering CPR. Abby continued administering the baby CPR until to everyone’s surprise and delight, the infant started breathing again. In the meantime, the store manager called 911 and confirmed that emergency responders were on their way.

The incident happened last Wednesday, the ABC News report confirms.

Later, Abby revealed that she had learned to administer CPR just weeks earlier. She learned the procedure in her health class at Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Missouri, the gutsy teenager added. At the time of the crisis, Abby was wondering if she would be able to really help save the baby’s life.

“The one thought that crossed my mind was, ‘What if this doesn’t work?’ And I just had to push it out of my mind and keep going because I knew that’s what I had to do,” Abby told newspersons.

When the baby started breathing again, she was among the happiest people assembled there.

“I can’t explain how happy I was when she started to breathe. It was a huge relief.”

Within minutes of the baby starting to breathe again, emergency responders reached the spot and took control of the situation. Even they were all praises for Snodgrass, and added that it was her quick and swift action that saved the life of the baby girl.

The baby was later taken to a hospital where she is expected to make a complete recovery. Both persons, the child and her mother, are doing well. Meanwhile, the family members of the baby released a statement to ABC News in which they express their gratitude and acknowledge Abby’s efforts to save their baby girl.

“We are exceedingly grateful to the young woman who helped our daughter. Our daughter is home and healthy, and we couldn’t be more thankful.”

This is not the first instance of a Good Samaritan coming forward and help an unknown fellow human. In the past, the Inquisitr has reported about several such stories.
