Johnny Depp: YouTube Video Of Slurred Speech Gets 2.2M Views

Johnny Depp is continuing to bring buzz across the internet on November 16, due to a viral YouTube video clip titled “Hollywood Documentary Award: Johnny Depp Presents” from CBS, which shows Depp mumbling through a speech that Johnny gave to introduce the documentary titled Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon. Depp called Shep a good friend and a “mensch” – Yiddish for a person of integrity – during the controversial tribute.

With more than 2.2 million views and growing, the popular YouTube video of Johnny Depp displays the rarely-interviewed actor alternately covering his mouth and struggling to introduce the movie clip.

“That’s the weirdest mic I’ve ever seen in my life. Right? All right? I, um, I’m not very good at this kind of thing. (Bleep) For decades Shep Gordon has been one of the most beloved and respected talent managers in the music industry. He’s also currently the star and subject of the documentary Supermensch because he is a mensch and I have been very, very lucky to have him in my life. He’s someone I consider a great friend, somebody uh, yeah, an incredibly loyal loyal friend. Um, and so weeeee, you, have to watch the film. Yeah, there you go, what does that say? Can somebody (bleep). I mean it’s one of those nights.”

Depp intermittently read the teleprompter and included his own off-the-cuff words within the speech. As noted in the Inquisitr article titled “Johnny Depp Delivers Slurred Drunk Speech At Hollywood Film Awards: ‘It’s One Of Those Nights’,” the 51-year-old Depp inferred that it was more than nerves that caused him to slur and curse his way through the introduction at the 18th Annual Hollywood Film Festival on Friday night.

The befuddled appearance stood in sharp contrast to the “Single, sober and still wondering what it’s all about” subtitled portrait that Rolling Stone received from Depp in their 2013 article titled “Johnny Depp: An Outlaw Looks at 50,” a piece that prompted the Daily Mail to surmise that Johnny hadn’t had an alcoholic drink in a year and a half.

In terms of alcoholism, Johnny Depp is known for having a tattoo that once read “Winona forever” as a tribute to his then girlfriend Winona Ryder – but after that relationship ended, Depp had the tattoo altered to read “wino forever” instead. With Johnny Depp’s most recent seemingly inebriated slurry speech thrusting Depp back into the celebrity news realm again, the old adage about being careful of the words both spoken and written surely seems to apply in this case.
