Taylor Swift Gave Up On Men: Taylor Wants People To Focus On Her Music, Not On The Men She Dates

Taylor Swift gave up on men because she was tired of people focusing on her failed relationships. Of course, the “Blank Space” singer uses those failed relationships to pen many of her super popular songs, but that doesn’t mean that she is happy with people always talking about her love life. According to Us Weekly, Swift wanted people to really listen to her first pop album, and not think about who she was or wasn’t dating.

“It broke my heart! I was selling out stadiums and it was all people talked about,” Swift said.

She decided to spend some time alone, while she recorded her album 1989, and she says that she’s happy with her decision.

“Now people talk less about the things that don’t matter,” she said.

Taylor Swift gave up on men even though men are the primary subject in every one of her songs (save for an occasional tune like “Welcome to New York”). Swift has dated quite a few men in the spotlight, but none have worked out for her so far. That doesn’t mean she’s turned off from dating, but it does suggest that she needs to spend some time doing her own thing, and really focusing on what’s important in her life. At 24, that’s not necessarily finding a husband.

Swift has definitely used her dating experiences to her favor. While she might be made fun of or ridiculed by the media for her failed relationships with some of the world’s hottest stars (from Jake Gyllenhaal to Harry Styles), Swift has used that as inspiration. In fact, she even wrote about it (surprise, surprise) in “Shake It Off” (“I go on too many dates/But I can’t make them stay/At least that’s what people say”).

On 1989, however, she reached deeper, and wrote songs that weren’t necessarily specific to one guy. According to AZ Central, Swift penned “How You Get the Girl” as a sort of “instruction manual” for men in general.

“It’s written for a guy who has broken up with his girlfriend, then wants her back after six months But it’s not going to be as simple as sending a text like, ‘Sup? Miss you.’ That won’t work. You need to do all the things I say,” Swift explains.

So what does she say? Well, it’s quite simple.

“I want you for worse or for better, I would wait for ever and ever. Broke your heart, I’ll put it back together, I would wait for ever and ever.”

Although Taylor Swift gave up on men for the time being, that doesn’t mean she’s not still relying on them to make music. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Swift’s music video for “Blank Space” was meant to capitalize on what the media makes her out to be: A psycho ex-girlfriend.

“The media has portrayed me as this crazy, desperate serial dater. I decided that I was just going to kind of continue the joke and take back the narrative and so I wrote ‘Blank Space.’ We decided we just had to go absolutely crazy with the video,” Swift explained.
