Amanda Bynes Denies Threatening To Kill Her Father

In her latest online rant, Amanda Bynes denies threatening to kill her father, saying it was only a joke. She maintains that when her then-roommate recorded her saying something along those lines, she was only joking, and that she’d never hurt anyone.

A new audio leak, apparently recorded by a friend as Bynes talked to her about her family problems, features the young actress talking about wanting to kill her father. The rambling speech bears little resemblance to an actual threat, including references to Bynes stripping for her father, and leading him to a ditch.

She talks about calling her mother and threatening her with harm, saying, “So, like I’m not ever gonna like do such a thing, but…” before rambling about the things she tells her mother, and how much better she feels after the threats.

However, though it may be true that Bynes is routinely calling and threatening her mother, what she says on the recording sounds less like a plan, and more like a rambling, disjointed fantasy.

On Twitter Saturday evening, Bynes responded to the controversy, explaining that it was just a joke — apparently one that everyone makes.

She went on to compare the statements to certain sexual references, suggesting that since no one took those as death threats, they should not consider these messages threatening either.

Though Amanda goes on to say that her parents have released a statement saying they know she wouldn’t harm anyone, it’s notable that TMZ recently reported that Bynes’ parents refused to pay for damages she caused in a rented apartment, saying that they knew she was unstable.

According to Perez Hilton, Bynes’ parents have also made a statement that denies her claims that she doesn’t have a place to stay, saying they’ve provided her with a hotel room that includes car service and food, but that Bynes doesn’t want to stay there because it’s not in Hollywood or West Hollywood.

So, as Amanda Bynes denies threatening her parents in the recording, she does appear to be telling the truth — but the statements are still concerning.
