WWE News: More WWE Releases Coming, Fandango And Cesaro On Hot Seat?

With the news of The Great Khali departing from WWE yesterday, many speculated if WWE was going to go through yet another cleaning phase. Usually, when one release happens, another shortly follows. Usually WWE does this in the spring, which is why the release period in WWE is usually called “spring cleaning” by most reporters. This would be the first time a firing phase happened during the holiday season.

Many think that WWE will not fire anyone else for the rest of the year, but will end up doing so in January.

Many of us thought that Khali was just a special case. His contract expired, and WWE chose to not renew it, which didn’t seem like a big deal. Khali is rarely used on TV, and he has more leg problems than he needs to at his size. That said, why the sudden thought now?

Reddit User MetsFan4ever claimed recently that more would be coming.

“I’ve heard releases are coming. [Great Khali] is probably the start of things. I’ve been told about a few. But I don’t want to speculate as of right now.”

While most would wonder why many news websites get their news from him, he has broken several of WWE’s biggest news stories this year. Many claim that he is a former WWE employee, which is why he has an inside track with the goings on of the company. Usually when he says it, something goes down. That said, we have to consider this yet another clue to what WWE will do next.

Again, this is the holiday season. WWE has never gone through a firing phase at this point because they consider themselves a family company. Firing people during the holidays simply does not come across well. This is why many think the firings will come in January.

Zack Ryder

Who is on the hot seat? Many speculate that some obvious names will be considered, while some would simply not make sense.

Zack Ryder, Fandango, Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, Curtis Axel, and Tamina Snuka are the most likely to be let go. This is due to them barely being on television. However, many think that Ryder is safe despite being out from his injury, due to his ability to work well with YouTube and social media. Both are huge for WWE, and Ryder helped get them going there.

Axel is also unlikely due to his ability to wrestle. He has helped to train people, and even helped get The Rock back in ring shape when he was coming back. Many like working with him, and he is well-liked backstage.

Meanwhile, Justin Gabriel, despite being used on NXT as of late, as well as Otunga, Fandango, and Tamina, have been of no use to WWE.

Another two on the hot seat are Brad Maddox and Cesaro.

Brad Maddox

Maddox had his profile moved to the alumni section on WWE’s website. This happened to Great Khali a few days ago, which made many think Brad could be gone soon. However, this could be storyline centered. Brad has been using the fact that he didn’t have a job the last few months, and he was sitting at home watching due to that. He will probably end up back on WWE TV soon and move out of the alumni section due to that. He is also well-liked by Triple H, and he happens to run the Talent Relations area, so there we are.

Cesaro has had a lot of speculation regarding him. WWE fans seemingly love him, but WWE itself has not been using him as well as many think. There is word that his contract could be coming up soon and he may not re-sign. However, does that mean he won’t? Cesaro is a great mid-card wrestler right now, but many think he has main event potential. Whether or not he lives up to that is uncertain. Many speculate that he has been used in a weird fashion due to his comments about John Cena and Randy Orton.

Reports now claim Cesaro was not punished for this, but rather WWE has simply had nothing major for him to do. However, there are no indications that WWE wants to let him go. That is a good thing, but it could simply be something being reported to avoid any sort of issues right now. If Cesaro is let go, he will have several opportunities given. So it could work out better for Cesaro being let go from WWE than for him to stay in the end.
