‘Girl Meets World’ Is Getting a Visit From Shawn Hunter

Looks like it’s going to be a merry holiday f0r fans of Girl Meets World. The spin-off show, which follows Boy Meets World’s Cory and Topanga’s children, is about to have a familiar face during a very special Christmas episode.

Cory Matthews’ best friend and partner in crime Shawn Hunter, along with Cory’s parents Alan (William Russ) and Amy (Betsey Randle) and little brother Joshua (Uriah Shelton), will meet up with the couple for Christmas in New York City.

Actor Rider Strong was hesitant to reprise his role when the spin-off show was first announced but since then other characters such as Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) and Minkus (Lee Noris) have made appearances, so he’s decided to join in on the fun.

Back in June Girl Meets World’s official Facebook page posted an interview from After Buzz with creator Michael Jacobs, who revealed that Strong directed two episodes and will be a regular director as the series goes on.

In March, Strong told the Hollywood Reporter of his upcoming episode. “It’s like time travel. I get to go back to high school, but now I have a clue of what’s going on.”

When the show was first announced, Strong was adamant in saying he would not be in Girl Meets World but didn’t rule out a possible guest star appearance. In 2012, the former actor gave a lengthy and detailed response.

Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years. So I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story.”

He continued, “At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World. There might be a chance to see some of the BMW cast in a guest spot, and I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years. But Girl Meets World will be, and I think it should be, its own show.”

Two years later and now Girl Meets World viewers and Boy Meets World fans will finally find out what happened to Cory’s often troubled friend Shawn Hunter. Here’s hoping he got back together with Angela and they have a happy life with a bunch of children. There’s only one way to find out if this prediction is true — and that’s to tune in to the episode on December 5 on the Disney Channel.
