‘Once Upon A Time’ Spoilers: Will Emma Give Up Her Magic?

Once Upon a Time fans are in for a treat this weekend because “Smash the Mirror” is not one, but two hours, and there is going to be a lot happening. In Arendelle, the Snow Queen is forced to take drastic measures when her plan to pit Elsa and Anna against each other doesn’t go as she hoped. Meanwhile, in Storybrooke, Emma’s powers continue to be out of control, and she’s so desperate that she turns to Mr. Gold for help.

TVLine spoke to the Snow Queen herself, Elizabeth Mitchell, to find out what’s coming for the Snow Queen, Emma, Elsa, Anna, and more. She stated definitively that while you might feel bad for her after seeing the flashbacks in last week’s Once Upon a Time episode, which featured The Walking Dead’s Brighton Sharbino as the young Ingrid, as previously reported by the Inquisitr, the Snow Queen is a “villain” and will “do some pretty bad things.” She wants viewers to “continue to kind of hate her and then wonder about it” because she likes the “shades of gray.”

The promo for “Smash the Mirror” shows Emma still unable to control her powers, and that puts Henry in danger. She goes to Mr. Gold for help, but he warns her, “The effects would be permanent.” She doesn’t care because she wants it fixed. The video below also offers a tease of what’s going on in the Arendelle flashbacks, with Elsa refusing to hurt her sister.

When asked if the Snow Queen would potentially decide that she’s not so interested in Emma if she didn’t have her powers, Mitchell admitted that is one possibility.

“Maybe she’d try to help her get them back. But that’s definitely one of the biggest draws for Ingrid. For her, magic is blood. To her magic is what links everyone together. To her magic is what makes them family. So, I think probably she would [lose interest]. How sad is that?”

This week’s Once Upon a Time is also going to answer a couple of burning questions about the Snow Queen’s past and Storybrooke, mainly how she got to the town and why she erased everyone’s memories of her.

Hypable has shared the Once Upon a Time photos from this Sunday’s two-hour episode, and, like the one above, they show Elsa visiting Anna in her cell in Arendelle. Fortunately for Anna, Elsa has exactly what she needs: the key. However, this just adds to the mystery because what happens after that? There’s still the matter of where Anna is in present-day.

Once Upon a Time Season 4 airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
