Vince McMahon may have set up the terms for Team Cena versus Team Authority as offering the possibility of ending the reign of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, but Chris Jericho believes it’s best if John Cena’s team loses out this time.
In a related report by the Inquisitr, the possibility of John Cena’s heel turn has Hulk Hogan offering tips on being bad yet popular with the fans so that the merchandise doesn’t stop flowing.
Recently, all the members of Team Cena and Team Authority have been revealed, with John Cena’s team being comprised of himself, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Sheamus, and Ryback. Team Authority has received Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev, and Cesaro. Originally, it was assumed that Randy Orton would be part of Team Authority, but the Viper’s apparent face turn had him slithering out on his own.
It’s questionable which direction WWE Creative will choose to go, but Chris Jericho may have just given fans a big hint. Triple H usually gives a weekly video chat, but this time, WWE.com interviewed Jericho to get his thoughts on the game-changing match at Survivor Series.
“Who do I want to win? I think the response you would expect is I would say Team Cena. My concern is I don’t know who takes over if Team Cena wins. I don’t want John Cena running the WWE. I know what I’ve got with Hunter and with Stephanie and, okay, sometimes they make decisions that are very selfish, but they’re also two very powerful people that have been in the business for years.”
But there may be one good baby bump-sized reason for Team Cena to win. Recently, rumors claimed Stephanie McMahon is pregnant, which would give a very good excuse for The Authority to break up in the near future if the idea is to give Paul Levesque and his wife time to focus on family. At the same time, the married couple already have several children, and when Stephanie was pregnant in the past, she continued to work and travel with the WWE.
Regardless of the rumors, Chris Jericho believes it’s best to keep The Authority in power in order to keep the WWE Network running smoothly.
“Stephanie is a third generation executive, Triple H has been here since 1994, or whatever it is, and kind of studied at the right hand of Vince McMahon; so I, as much as I hope that they don’t get out of control, I still don’t want them to lose power because like I said, I don’t know who takes over. It’s better to keep your friends close but your enemies closer. At least I know what I’m dealing with with The Authority and with Stephanie and with Hunter. I don’t know what I’m dealing with if Cena wins.”
Besides the big match, Jericho also talked about the European WWE tour, which had Vince McMahon commanding fans to “have fun, damn it!” Jericho also released a new book and has been actively working on marketing it through social media.
Do you agree with Chris Jericho’s reasoning for why Team Authority should beat John Cena’s team?
