Nikki Ferrell is opening up about her split from controversial Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis, saying that their split went down through text message.
Ferrell and Juan Pablo broke up at the end of last month, just days before Nikki’s 28th birthday. Ferrell said that the two had been discussing just where the relationship was headed, when things started to fall apart.
“We were just going back and forth through texting,” she told Life & Style magazine. “He was questioning the relationship, and I was questioning it back. I sent him a message saying, ‘We should fight for this. We should work this out.’ And he didn’t respond.”
With her birthday on the horizon, Nikki Ferrell decided that she wouldn’t let the sour relationship get in the way of her fun, so she cut out Juan Pablo entirely, blocking him on Twitter and deleting his number.
After a bit of time to clear her head, Ferrell admitted that she could have played it better.
“In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have done that,” she told the magazine. “I’m a tad bit impulsive.”
Ferrell and Galavis appeared in trouble from the start. Even before Juan Pablo’s season of The Bachelor concluded, there were widespread reports that he was simply in the show for the money and notoriety it would bring him, and that he had no real intention to get married.
Things got even more tense for Ferrell and Galavis at the post-finale interview, in which Juan Pablo squirmed and refused to say “I love you” to Nikki.
Despite reports that their relationship was almost over, Nikki and Juan Pablo made another controversial decision — to appear together on the VH1 reality show Couples Therapy. Many accused them of going on the show simply to get paid, and that they never had any real intentions to work on their relationship.
In her recent interview, Nikki Ferrell admitted as much, saying “we both knew we were wasting each other’s time,” and that neither of them wanted to move to be with the other.
