Is Hocus Pocus 2 coming? A few months ago, there was a false rumor that Tina Fey was bringing it to the big screen, but that was shortly debunked. Although we don’t have confirmation that a sequel is ever happening, the movie’s star Bette Midler is up for a second go at it.
During a recent Reddit AMA session, Bette Midler opened herself up for questions, so of course Hocus Pocus came up since it’s probably her most culturally relevant work for Generation Y.
When asked whether she was up for a Hocus Pocus sequel, Midler revealed that she’s game to reprise her role as Winifred.
“You have to go to send in your cards to the Walt Disney company. The ball’s in their court.”
As stated, last time the Inquisitr reported on the sequel, it was falsely rumored that Tina Fey was stepping in to produce a spin-off to the original. The rumor was that it would take place a few years after the original film, and would focus around a stay-at-home mother who becomes involved with a witch hunter to battle a new set of evil witches. Thankfully, this plot turned out to be made up, but either way, it really pushed everyone’s excitement to have a legitimate sequel.
Midler must either really want a Hocus Pocus sequel to happen or is constantly asked about it; before her Reddit AMA closed, she left this piece of advice for anyone who’s really interested in seeing a sequel of the popular Disney film.
“Inundate the Disney company, because I have canvassed the girls and they are wiling to do it, but we have no say in it, so if you want a HOCUS POCUS 2, ask the Walt Disney company. You have been SO adorable. This has been most enlightening. SISTAHS!”
As you could guess Bette’s Reddit AMA evoked some major talk on Twitter.
