David Ruffin Jr., son of legendary Temptations singer David Ruffin, was arrested in California for domestic abuse. According to TMZ’s report/em>, 48-year-old David Ruffin Jr., was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence early Tuesday morning. Details are scarce, but law enforcement officials told TMZ that they were called to a scene in the San Fernando Valley, where they found a female victim who had sustained physical injuries.

Los Angeles police transported Ruffin to the local county jail, where he sits on a $50,000 bond. According to his bio, David Ruffin Jr., works as an R&B, soul, and jazz singer and songwriter in the Los Angles area.

Mississippi native and Motown legend, Davis Eli “David” Ruffin, whose own father was rumored to be an abusive and sometimes violent man, was a member of The Temptations during the Motown’s classic five period from 1964 to 1968.

Those who know David Ruffin Jr., do not believe the allegations of abuse. They insist that what happened was a simple fight between a man and his girlfriend. Allegations of physical abuse regarding his father and Tammi Terrell had plagued the elder Ruffin for years.

David Ruffin Jr., realized his father was famous when he was about 5-years-old. He loved seeing his talented father performing on stage, but hated it when he had to leave the family to travel on the road. David Ruffin died in Philadelphia in 1991 from a drug overdose, though it had been rumored that the singer died from foul play.

In an interview with Soul Train, David Ruffin Jr. stated that it was Michael Jackson who payed for his father’s funeral, and that he is forever grateful, but wishes that he had been able to thank Michael Jackson in person.

Regarding his own music, David Ruffin Jr., claims to have a different style that distinguishes him from his soul-singing father and from many of today’s singers, a style that he refers to as “Ruffin risqué.”

“I am not really commercial or secular. There are not a lot of artists out there even in the last few years that deliver what I deliver. I’m not knocking anybody because it is incredibly hard to make it in this business. But singing is not a gimmick for me. Singing is just in me.”

So far, there are no other details regarding the name of the victim in the David Ruffin Jr. domestic violence case.
