The well-known actress died from complications of cancer, according to the latest report from Deadline. Warner Bros. and executive producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro and Bill Prady released a statement regarding Carol Ann Susi’s death, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz. Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show’s eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann’s immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance. In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly.”

Carol Ann Susi once stated that no one recognized her in public. But, her voice as Howard’s mom was unmistakeable. In fact, the voice of Mrs. Wolowitz was so distinct that it became the subject of many jokes and parodies as other actors and comedians tried to imitate the voice. The Big Bang Theory never had plans to show the actresses’ face on the show.

American actress Carol Ann Susi is also famous for her roles in Just Go with It, Grey’s Anatomy, and That ’70s Show, according to the book The Carol Ann Susi Handbook by Emily Smith.

According to one of her dear friends, Carol Ann Susi was a “kind and generous spirit.” Here is what Joe Moe posted about the actress to his Facebook page.

“It is with overwhelming sadness that we must say good bye to my dear friend Carol Ann Suzi[sic]. Actress from The Night Stalker and most recently “Mrs. Wolowitz” on The Big Bang Theory. Carol Ann was a kind and generous spirit. A talented and funny artist and a diva in the kitchen and crafting sessions. She was one of my favorite Halloween accomplices and I don’t quite know how to process her loss at the moment. I was proud to cast her in my movie Red Velvet where she did a dazzling maniacal turn. I just don’t know…”

Others who have worked with the funny and opinionated actress say that she was a beautiful person and that she elevated those who worked around her. Her closest friends and family will miss the lavish parties that she gave in her home. When she was not acting or entertaining friends, Susi enjoyed canning relish and collecting cartoon purses from Disney.
