She Lost Her Teaching Job For Sex With Student — Now Guess What Her Facebook Status Says

Eppie Sprung Dawson, a 28-year-old now-former teacher in Edinburgh, Scotland, was fired after admitting that she had sex with a 17-year-old student, Matthew Robinson. She later pleaded guilty to having sex with a person under 18 while in a position of power, and she barely avoided going to jail by agreeing to mental health counseling. She was even placed on a sex offender register.

But Sprung Dawson is definitely not apologizing.

Not only did Sprung Dawson lose her job over her tryst with Robinson, she lost her marriage as well. However, as the U.K. media was keen to notice on Monday, the teacher-turned-bartender has now updated her Facebook page “relationship status” to “in a relationship” — with Robinson.

Of course, with Robinson now age 19, there’s nothing illegal about their relationship anymore. But the teen’s parents remain outraged, not only that Sprung Dawson did not receive a more severe punishment for her sexual advances on their son while he was still a student, but at the way they say she groomed him for the relationship.

They say that the older woman has not just seduced Matthew, but effectively purchased his attentions by showering him with gifts. Jonathan Robinson spoke out about his son’s relationship.

She’s just generally keeping him there by buying him things. She has got her hooks into him at the moment. She just cannot let go.”

The teens’ parents say that Sprung Dawson showered their son with gifts, including an Xbox game system and jerseys for his favorite sport, rugby.

The relationship between Sprung Dawson and the then-underage Robinson was exposed just a few days before Christmas in 2012, when police officers spotted Sprung Dawson’s car parked in a roadside rest area, and there was condensation coating the windows.

When the police approached the car to check out what was going on, they discovered Sprung Dawson and Robinson in the front seat, both disrobed below the waist.

Robinson’s parents say they came to believe that the illicit couple had been engaged in a sexual relationship for about four months before they were found out by police.

In September of 2013, just two months after Sprung Dawson was officially listed as a sex offender, Sprung Dawson moved Robinson, who is now a trade-school student, into the same house she once shared with her husband. Sheree Robinson, Matthew’s mother, spoke about the living arrangements of her son and why he moved into Sprung Dawson’s house.

We had a normal family row about his room being untidy and he just left. He rang Eppie to come and pick him up. We don’t know what she is after and what is in her mind. I think the whole family are still in shock.”

Eppie Sprung Dawson avoided a prison sentence in part because she revealed to a judge that she, herself, had suffered sexual abuse as a teenager.

Numerous cases of female teachers having sex with underage students have made headlines in recent months. But rarely has an admitted offender not only continued her relationship with the student after being convicted, but announced it to the world via Facebook.
