He Died Living His Purpose: Preacher And Motivational Speaker Miles Munroe Dies In Plane Crash

The evangelical world is in mourning after news that internationally-renowned preacher, author, business coach, and motivational speaker Dr. Myles Munroe has died.

The Washington Post reported that Munroe and nine others, including his wife, died as their Lear jet tried to land in Grand Bahama Island.

The plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area. The Department of Civil Aviation reported that the plane was a Lear 36 executive jet which departed the Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) for the Grand Bahama International Airport.

According to Forbes, the crash occurred as people were gathering in Grand Bahama for Dr. Munroe’s 2014 Global Leadership Forum, which starts November, 10.

Andrew Young, the former mayor of Atlanta and a former U.S Ambassador to the United Nations who was scheduled to speak at the popular leadership forum, released a statement expressing his condolences.

“Ambassador Young expresses his deep sadness over the tragic death of his friends Dr. Myles and Mrs. Ruth Munroe. He offers condolences to the Munroe family and the families of the other souls who lost their lives as a result of this shocking plane crash.”

Africa’s richest woman and oil mogul, Mrs. Folorunso Alakija, is also expected to speak at the leadership forum.

Dr. Munroe was a strong supporter of African development and was reported to have attended the inauguration of several African leaders, including South African President Jacob Zuma, after he won elections, reported the Inquisitr.

Known for his work and teachings on leadership, purpose, and maximizing your potential, vision, individual, and national transformation, Dr. Munroe was the senior pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International Fellowship, where his wife, Ruth Ann, served as co-senior pastor.

Dr. Munroe represented his country as the youngest recipient of the Queen’s Birthday Honors of the Order of The British Empire (OBE) Award 1998 bestowed by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth of England, for his spiritual and social contributions to the national development of the Bahamas. He was previously honored by the government of the Bahamas with the Silver Jubilee Award (SJA) for providing 25 years of outstanding service to the Bahamas in the category of spiritual, social, and religious development.

Forbes confirmed that his daughter, Charisa, also died in the plane crash.

ABC News has indicated that a full investigation into the crash that lead to the death of Miles Munroe will be conducted by the Bahamian authorities.
