Did Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting Go Back To Long Hair?

Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting caused a stir earlier this year when she debuted a sudden and dramatic new pixie cut on her Instagram account. The Big Bang Theory actress later admitted she hadn’t told her bosses before making the big change, but once they became aware of her new look, they were supportive. The sleek, professional ‘do even seemed to fit the new role for her Theory character, Penny, who started a new job in sales this season.

But fans are mixed about the ultra-short look. The Inquisitr previously reported that Twitter reaction was harsh when the new season of Theory debuted, even though Cuoco-Sweeting’s new fashion was all over media during the summer months, and viewers should have had a heads-up that Penny was no longer sporting long, wavy locks. Glamour blogger Lindsey Unterberger did a serious assessment of her negative reaction to the cut as featured on the show, considering she “loved” it at the time of its Instagram debut.

“Maybe it’s because I associate Penny with fun, and the cut just looks so buttoned-up on her character. Or maybe it’s because I hate what it represents: the notion that women have to cut their hair to be taken seriously.”

So, followers of Cuoco-Sweeting’s Facebook page were in for a surprise today when the actress changed her profile picture. The stylish, attractive shot showed Cuoco-Sweeting at a red-carpet event with a strong smile and long, flowing hair. Fans might have done a double-take: Did the actor employ her glam squad to outfit her with extensions?

Alas, it is not so. The date of the original photo post and shots from the event reveal the picture was taken more than five years ago, in September 2009, at the 61st Emmy Awards. A lot has happened to Cuoco-Sweeting since then, professionally and personally — from signing a huge new contract for The Big Bang Theory over the summer to getting married to tennis player Ryan Sweeting.

A quick perusal of Cuoco-Sweeting’s Instagram account reveals she is still sporting the ready-wear pixie cut. A shot from Saturday, of the actor on a press junket for her film The Wedding Ringer, showed her in cropped shorts, a buttoned-up shirt, full-sleeved blazer and black and white shoes. In her caption, Cuoco-Sweeting said her co-star Josh Gad labelled her a “sophisticated penguin.”

Regardless of whether her hair is short or long, one thing is for certain: With the new Big Bang Theory contracts in place and her popularity intact, Cuoco-Sweeting will be on television screens for years to come.
