Now that Toy Story 4 has officially been confirmed, various rumors regarding the hugely anticipated animated effort have started to emerge.
We already know quite a bit of information about the fourth installment of the beloved franchise. John Lasseter, who currently holds a lofty position at both Disney and Pixar, is set to return to directing duties, it will be released in June 2017, has been partially written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, and is set to be a love story.
But now speculation has started to spread over what the film might actually entail. Pixar has yet to announce any details regarding the film’s narrative, but that hasn’t stopped people from guessing.
According to the International Business Times, one of the most popular potential plots making the rounds revolves around Andy’s mom and Jessie. Jessie the Cowgirl, who is voiced by Joan Cusack, first appeared in Toy Story 2, while Andy’s mother was a mainstay in the first three films.
A Pixar Theory published back in February 2014 alleged that Jessie’s old owner, Emily, who abandoned her, is actually Andy’s unnamed mother. The theory gathered up plenty of evidence that its creator, Jon Negroni, then insisted was proof that it was true.
It was previously revealed that Woody is an old family toy, while in Toy Story 2, it was unveiled that he came as part of a set that also included Jessie, Bullseye, and The Old Prospector. Maybe Andy’s uncle got Woody in the same set that Andy’s mother got Jessie? Another piece of evidence is that Andy can be seen wearing the same hat that was seen on Emily’s bed during a flashback scene that revolved around her previous owner.
It is highly unlikely that Pixar would actually use this storyline for Toy Story 4 though. Not only is it a tad unbelievable, despite the evidence, but Negroni’s Pixar Theory has been doing the rounds across the world wide web for several months now, and it is common knowledge among movie aficionados.
Meanwhile, it has also been speculated that Spider-Man could star in Toy Story 4 too. This is because Pixar are now owned by Disney, who also own Marvel. This means that the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and Ant-Man could pop up in the film without the need to negotiate movie rights. Don’t forget that Disney also own LucasFilm, which means that it’s not out of the realm of possibility for Star Wars’ legion of popular characters to appear in Toy Story 4 too.
