Selena Gomez Elegantly Teases Lyrics To Justin Bieber Inspired New Song

Selena Gomez has possibly teased lyrics to her upcoming single in an Instagram post she shared on Tuesday.

“But I can’t imagine, a life without, breathless moments, breaking me down,” the 22-year-old captioned the stunning black and white selfie, before adding, “#November.”

The pic shows Selena staring intently into a mirror with a not-entirely-readable expression.

Like close friend Taylor Swift, who teased lyrics from her close to 1.3 million selling album 1989 before its official release and beyond, the Disney alum seems to be taking a leaf out of Taylor’s playbook ahead of dropping her “Greatest Hits” For You album, which is slated for November 24.

According to a track list that leaked Friday, two to three new songs feature: an alleged first single “Heart Wants What It Wants” and “Do It.” Both are collaborations with Rock Mafia — the husband and wife songwriting/production team.

The Rock Mafia camp teased the “Heart Wants What It Wants” title on their official Twitter page, and (tellingly) Selena’s lyrics post, also previously noting that an audio snippet doing the rounds isn’t authentic.

A Spanish version of the song “More” (“Más”) also makes the cut on the 15-track set of For You, which will romp through a back catalog that includes Selena & The Scene and the hit 2013 Stars Dance album, with songs such as “Falling Down,” “Naturally,” “Slow Down” and “Come & Get It.”

It’s almost certain Selena’s expected debut single is inspired by on-off beau Justin Bieber, although how much or little she contributed to the lyrics is as yet unknown.

“But I can’t imagine, a life without, breathless moments, breaking me down (sic),” is — in a word — beautiful.

Poetic, yet seemingly grounded in real emotion, “Heart Wants What It Wants” promises to reveal Gomez’s experience in the Jelena relationship, in the same way that Bieber’s 2013 Journals album told his perspective.

Most of the Biebs’ songs on that collection seemed to be apologies or expressions of love to a lost partner. Explanation notes for singles such as “Heartbreaker,” “All That Matters” and others, strongly hinted they were inspired by Selena.

Like Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, Mary J. Blige’s famously confessional albums, MJ’s post-1993 ballads and more, the backdrop of Jelena’s recent breakup adds pathos to Selena’s allegedly, upcoming single.

The actress-singer’s lyric flash comes days after a video showed her serenading reality TV star turned supermodel Kendall Jenner with a raucous rendition of “Happy Birthday” at her 19th bash, with British supermodel Cara Delevingne and pals on Sunday.

The video confused fans and the news cycle. Not just because of Selena’s previous falling out with Kendall at Coachella in April (amid flirting rumors), but also Justin’s lunch meet-up with Jenner during a Paris Fashion Week trip with Selena, which seemingly triggered their split.

Gossip reporting on those events has been overwhelmingly sensationalist, even blatantly fraudulent in many cases. However, it seems Gomez and Jenner quietly made up behind the scenes. Which possibly means Jelena’s split had nothing to do with tabloid rumors.

On Monday, the pop princess took to Instagram to share a candid statement on her state of mind as she gets into promo-mode for her new music, posting a recording studio selfie captioned:

“As I have a last listen, I thought a lot about my year. I thought a lot about my voice. And after a year of holding on. I think it’s time to start sharing. #November.”

That sound? Selena Gomez coming into her own.
