Kansas City Tight End Anthony Fasano Scores A Weird, Amazing Touchdown [Video]

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Anthony Fasano caught a touchdown during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets — but it’s not as simple as you might think.

After falling to the ground following a missed an attempted cut block, Fasano caught a pass from Calvin Pace while sitting on his butt. Anthony quickly lunged into the endzone and scored the amazingly impressive touchdown. The remarkable score gave the Chiefs a 13-0 lead over New York. Anchorman actor David Koechner took over the Chiefs’ Twitter account during the game and tweeted as the moment occured.

Fasano says that while the play was a big part of Kansas City’s win, it likely won’t ever happen that way again. “I’ll probably never get one [that way] again”, Anthony told ESPN. “You don’t draw it up like that.”

Fasano’s teammates applauded him and the unique play after the game. Quarterback Alex Smith, whose pass was deflected by Pace resulting in Fasano’s on-the-ground catch, praised the touchdown. “You’d like to think it comes from playing hard and aggressive,” he told reporters. The Jets were less enthusiastic about Fasano’s impressive play, with coach Rex Ryan telling ESPN that “I thought it was typical of how this season’s gone for us. That’s what I thought.”

Ryan isn’t the only one who thinks Fasano’s touchdown reflects his team’s performance this season. Many are using Anthony’s lucky TD as an opportunity to criticize the Jets for their lackluster year so far, with USAToday Sportssaying “It’s just been that kind of year for Gang Green.” The Daily News wasn’t so kind, saying that Anthony’s play “summed up the Jets season perfectly. It’s gotten to the point where people can score against the Jets while sitting down.”

Fasano has a history of strong performance against the Jets, notably catching a touchdown pass against the team in 2012 when he was playing for the Miami Dolphins. That season was also a particularly rough one for the New York team.

Anthony Fasano’s incredible score during Sunday’s game led to KC winning 24-10.
