New BioShock Infinite video acquaints us with the voice actors

2K and Irrational sent out a new behind-the-scenes video for BioShock Infinite detailing the acting process for Troy Baker and Courtnee Draper, the voice actors behind Booker and Elizabeth.

In the video, Irrational Games’ Ken Levine explains that he doesn’t necessarily have a script completely hammered out when they go into a session. Instead, he talks with the actors about the scene, and they brainstorm ideas on how the characters will react to the situation at hand.

“I have an interesting relationship with the actors, in the sense that, ideally I’d like to hire actors and bring them in and say, like, ‘Okay, I totally got this figured out. Here’s your piece of paper, go do X, Y and Z,’” Levine explains. “And that’s just not the case in this game, because we’re doing something we haven’t really done before.

The whole video is an interesting look into the fairly unique acting process for recording dialogue in BioShock Infinite, so do check it out if you’re interested in that sort of thing. Fair warning, the language in the video gets quite a bit salty when Levine and Baker try to set an emotional mood for Draper for an emotional scene.
