Elderly Man’s Photo Eating With With The Picture Of His Wife Goes Viral
Eating alone may be lonely for some, but not for a man seen eating at an In-N-Out Burger branch in California.
A couple of weeks ago, imgur user soulrose uploaded a picture of a man seated in a red and white booth eating alone. He had a picture of propped up in front of him and his walker beside him. The imgur user approached the man hoping to brighten his day.
After talking to the man, soulrose found out his story. The picture on the table was of his wife who died in 2009, and the user shared the man’s story.
“They met when they were both 17. They dated briefly, then lost contact when he went to war and her family moved. But he said he thought about her the entire war. After his return, he decided to look for her. He searched for her for 10 years and never dated anyone.”
Not dating anyone because of a girl was unusual, and he was often called crazy, but the man only replied, “I am. Crazy in love.” On one of his trips to California, he visited a barbershop where he told the barber about his 10-year search for the girl. The barber called in his daughter and to his surprise, the daughter was the girl he was looking for. The girl never dated anyone either.
The man immediately proposed to the lady, and they were married for 55 years before she died. Since then, the man always brings a picture of his wife wherever he goes as a testament of his love.
Soulrose got a few words of wisdom by talking to the man for a few minutes.
“People are like candles. At any moment a breeze can blow it out, so enjoy the light while you have it.”
“I never had a single argument with my wife, but we had lots of debates.”
“Tell your wife that you love her everyday. And be sure to ask her, ‘Have I told you that I love you lately?'”
“I was a very rich man. Not with money, but with love.”
On October 22, Twitter user Madina Bashizaduah from San Francisco posted an image of the same man, only he was wearing different clothes and a different picture of her wife and himself when they were younger. Madina shared her experience with the man on Huffington Post.
“The older gentleman was sitting down enjoying his meal and I noticed that he had a photo with him. Automatically, I assumed she wasn’t here with us and I started tearing up because it was such as beautiful moment but heartbreaking at the same time.”
Other customers at In-N-Out approached the man. They were asking him about the photograph, and he was always happy to talk about his life with his late wife.
