Jennifer Lopez On Marriage To Marc Anthony: ‘Life Really Wasn’t That Good’

Jennifer Lopez decided to open up about the troublesome ending of her marriage to actor/singer Marc Anthony in her new book, True Love.

According to an excerpt from her book provided by People magazine, the day “when everything changed” was shortly after she and Marc Anthony celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary together. Lopez states that other people “looking from the outside” at that time thought that her life “was great” with Marc. However, Jennifer Lopez opens up in her book to explain why that was not the case at all.

“I had just celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary. Anybody looking from the outside in would have thought my life was great….What people didn’t know was that life really wasn’t that good. My relationship was falling apart, and I was terrified.”

When she was getting ready for a photo shoot, Jennifer Lopez recalls the moment when she started to have a panic attack, leading to her blurting out nine words that quickly caused her to burst into tears.

“My heart was beating out of my chest… I felt like I couldn’t breath… My mom was there and she rushed to my side… I blurted out the words: ‘I don’t think I can be with Marc anymore.'”

In her book, she admits that she has never been in a physically abusive relationship, but has definitely been in relationships over the years where she felt “abused in one way or another.”

“I’ve never gotten a black eye or busted lip, but I’ve been in relationships where I have felt abused in one way or another: mentally, emotionally, verbally.”

Lopez goes on to write that she knows how it feels for “your soul to be diminished by the way your loved one is treating you.”

“I know what it feels like for your soul to be diminished by the way your loved one is treating you… but everyday that you don’t walk out that door, everyday you accept things in your partner and in yourself, is a day that you’re saying it’s okay.”

When it came to opening up about her relationship with Marc Anthony, Jennifer Lopez admits that she “went back and forth so many times.” However, according to People magazine, the 45-year-old singer decided to use her personal story to relay the main message to her readers that “we’re not victims in this life.”

Even though Jennifer Lopez writes that her own personal “road of healing and rediscovery” has been a long one to travel, according to Hollywood Life, she also admits that she is currently in the “best place” that she has ever been.
