Kevin Smith Shows Off Drastic New Look, The Internet Reacts [Photo]

For years Kevin Smith has been known for his signature look. The Clerks director is rarely seen without his hockey jersey, shorts, and his beard. Throughout his career playing Silent Bob and directing films such as Chasing Amy and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Smith is known to look a certain way no matter the film set or lively talk show appearance.

So that’s why when Smith unveiled his new look the internet went insane, with some big time Kevin Smith fans claiming it simply just couldn’t be the same Kev they’ve loved for years.

Here’s what Smith looked like before he decided to change his look.

Smith took a photo of himself clean-shaven, and as he shaved his beard he also shaved off about ten years from his looks. Instead of looking every bit of his age, the 44-year-old looks like he’s barely in his 30s. Take a look.

Since Kevin is so set in his way in terms of his attire, it’s a bit of a surprise that he shaved off his beard. Smith captured the picture on Facebook: “Look at this goofy spaz. This is me, beardless, for the #YogaHosers green screen shoot. It’s a Face-Brazilian!”

Fear not Smith fans, because this seems like it will only be a temporary new look. Following up his well-received film Tusk, Kevin has decided to make a Canadian trilogy.

The second film, Yoga Hosers, will star many of the same people that he gathered for Tusk — including Johnny Depp as his acting alter ego Guy Lapointe. Depp and Smith’s daughters Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp had a small part in Tusk but will have larger parts in YogaHosers, which is scheduled for release in 2015.

For those who aren’t aware, the plot of his next film will center around “the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two 15-year-old girls.” Depp will team up with the girls to battle an ancient evil.

Depp has been tapped to reprise his role as “a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe” while it’s been hinted that Smith might take over the ancient evil role.

In addition to his clean shaven look, Smith also has dropped 20 pounds by walking five miles a day and by cutting out sugars and processed foods.
