‘The Little Couple’ Surrogate Suffers Miscarriage

Dr. Jennifer Arnold and her husband Bill Klein, stars of TLC’s ‘The Little Couple,’ have found out their surrogate mother has suffered a miscarriage.

The sad news was documented on last night’s season finale, arriving after the couple had visited a doctor and been told the happy news that the embryo transfer was a success. In the end, news of the miscarriage was relayed to Bill, who had to tell his wife while she was working at Texas Children’s Hospital. Speaking to People magazine he said:

“I didn’t want her to be the last person to find out. It was a very tough day, and Jen took it harder than she originally expected.”

Jen admits she took the news badly, but on a brighter note the couple are not being deterred:

“I cried my eyes out. I deal with families who lose their babies and I will cry with them, but I thought I would be stronger. Nothing can completely prepare for all that when it is about you. By the next morning, I realized that I needed to try again. A lot of family asked, ‘Do you want to go through this again?’ And my answer is, yes. I would be miserable if I didn’t try again.”

Jen and Bill suffer from a rare bone disorder called skeletal dysplasia. Pregnancy could have posed considerable risks to Jen, so the couple decided to seek a surrogate. Here’s hoping next time has a happy ending.
