Honey Boo Boo Scandal: Is There More To The Story Than Mama June Wants To Admit?
Honey Boo Boo clan matriarch Mama June still hasn’t come clean, but as the old adage goes: a picture is worth one thousand words. In this case, the most damning evidence has been provided by popular celebrity news website TMZ. Late last week, TMZ broke the news that “Mama June” Shannon, star of the popular TLC series Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, had been dating a convicted child molester. Initially, TLC released a statement saying it was “mulling it’s options” regarding the two-year-old reality series. That same day, TLC pulled the plug on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
The Honey Boo Boo star tried to defend herself.
“These statements of me dating a sex offender is totally untrue. I would not ever ever every put my kids in danger. I love my kids too much. That is my past. I have not seen that person in 10 years and I don’t seem to want to see that person.”
Except photos have emerged, again courtesy of TMZ, which clearly show Mama June to be a liar. June and her new beau, 53-year-old Mark McDaniel, were photographed looking very cozy under what appears to be a hotel blanket. In fact, June and McDaniel were spotted together no less than three times. In addition to the apparent hotel rendezvous, Mama June and McDaniel were spotted shopping for a car, reportedly for McDaniel’s use. June and McDaniel were also photographed walking hand-in-hand as they looked at homes for sale in Hampton, Georgia.
McDaniel was released from prison in March after serving a 10-year sentence for forcing a child to perform oral sex on him. The child McDaniel assaulted was Mama June’s daughter, Anna Cardwell.
What could be more disturbing than Mama June dating a convicted child molester — a man who molested her daughter? How about how long she has been dating him? According to TMZ, Mama June has been seeing McDainel for the past few months. June reportedly tried, and failed, to keep the relationship hidden from the producers of Honey Boo Boo. The house hunting trip occurred sometime in September.
While most people, including Mama June, blamed her longtime boyfriend Sugar Bear for their break up in September, could Sugar Bear have left June when she rekindled her relationship with McDaniel? Sugar Bear was photographed visiting Mama June’s home, but so far has not released a statement about his former girlfriend, or their daughter Honey Boo Boo.
The unaired season of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo that wrapped production in August will reportedly not be aired.
