Christopher Nolan To Return To DC Universe? Jonathan Nolan Refuses To Rule It Out

Christopher Nolan could return to the DC universe, according to his brother and the co-writer of The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises, Jonathan Nolan. But it won’t happen for a while.

The Interstellar filmmaker’s take on Bruce Wayne and Batman, which consisted of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises, was hugely popular. In fact, this trilogy of films not only went on to influence a myriad of comic book and superhero movie reboots that followed, but also grossed close to $2.5 billion at the box office.

Christopher Nolan was also a producer on Zack Snyder’s 2013 Superman reboot, Man Of Steel, and is involved in a smaller fashion on its upcoming sequel, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.

During a conversation with Coming Soon, Jonathan Nolan was asked whether he or his brother would be involved in the upcoming new slate of DC films from Warner Bros. Jonathan confirmed that neither he nor his sibling would be, but he did tease that they could return to the comic book genre at some point in the future.

“I love those guys and my brother was involved in ‘Man Of Steel’ with Zack [Snyder] and David [Goyer]. I kind of feel like that chapter for us is close… To be continued somewhere further down the line? Maybe.”

Last week, Warner Bros. made a huge announcement that outlined their planned cinematic output for the next four years. This will consist of 10 movies, and will see a hoard of beloved comic book character either return to the big screen or make their movie debuts. You can check out their planned adventures below.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, directed by Zack Snyder (2016)
Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer (2016)
Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot (2017)
Justice League Part One, directed by Zack Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)
The Flash, starring Ezra Miller (2018)
Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa (2018)
Shazam (2019)
Justice League Part Two, directed by Zack Snyder (2019)
Cyborg, starring Ray Fisher (2020)
Green Lantern(2020)

If either Christopher Nolan or Jonathan Nolan were to make a return to DC’s cinematic universe, then there would be plenty of ecstatic movie fans out there. Rumors surrounding Nolan’s possible return to the Batman saga did circulate briefly after Man Of Steel’s release, but then Zack Snyder was eventually confirmed as the blockbuster sequel’s director.
