Justin Hartley Talks Tackling ‘The Young And The Restless’ Role Of Adam Newman

It’s almost time for Adam Newman to return to The Young and the Restless, and viewers are anxious to see how Justin Hartley does in the role. There was a lot of drama when Michael Muhney was let go from the role, and now Hartley is opening up about stepping into those shoes.

Hartley’s first day on-screen as Adam Newman will be Wednesday, November 5. The actor tells TV Guide he knows there are Y&R fans who are happy he’s joining the show, and of course, there are plenty who are not at all thrilled because they are resistant to seeing anyone else in the role.

The actor says that he gets that, and it’s fair, but he hopes Muhney fans give him a chance. Hartley jokes that in a way he’s not replacing Muhney, he’s “replacing the computer hand that replaced Muhney,” as Adam’s hand has been seen mysteriously here and there in Genoa City for some time now.

How does Adam return? Hartley teases The Young and the Restless spoilers that Chelsea finds the camera he had hidden in Connor’s room and she disables it. Adam overhears Billy and Chelsea talking about moving in together, and he can’t stand staying hidden in the shadows any longer. Even though he hasn’t fully recovered from the accident yet, he heads back home.

Though Hartley has had some significant roles in primetime since his Passions days, he has no worries about tackling daytime again. After roles in Mistresses, Smallville, and Revenge, Justin says he takes the work that comes, and it does seem he’s wholeheartedly tackling the role of Adam Newman.

As for Hartley’s character on Mistresses, Scott, Justin does feel that there’s more story yet to be told there. He left things in a wild place at the end of Season 2, and there is a Season 3 ahead. The show is already going through some significant changes with Alyssa Milano seemingly leaving, so fans will have to stay tuned to see where the writers go with that show.

From the looks of things, life is good for Justin Hartley these days. He’s got his new gig on The Young and the Restless, and after a recent photo he posted to Twitter, it seems his romance with Chrishell Stause is still going strong. That said, Stause just revealed that her role as Jordan Ridgeway on Days of Our Lives has wrapped. Fans will have to stay tuned to see what comes next for Chrishell and for these two as a couple.

Will fans give Justin Hartley a fair shot in the role of Adam Newman? The wait won’t take much longer before viewers can see the new Adam and get a feel for where the character is headed. The Young & the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
