From the moment Lena Dunham made her way onto the scene, she’s set herself a part from the pack. She stands out from her peers, and those decades older than her in the industry, for her outspoken views on everything under the sun.

So no one’s really surprised that Dunham likes to mess around with her look, but her latest dye job is quite jarring. Yesterday Dunham showed off a photo of her new hair color, which we decided is more along the lines of grinch green than a medusa green.

In an Instagram post, Dunham captioned her new look with, “Newly minted for the Canadian leg of the tour thanks to @tanneyb @rheannewhite.”

This isn’t the first time she’s changed up her hair. Dunham chopped her hair off after the first season of Girls wrapped. Then, just weeks ago, Lena dyed her chopped ‘do platinum blonde. Now that the fourth season of Girls has wrapped, it looks like that was enough of a sign to change it up once more.

Here’s what people are saying about Lena’s new look.

Back when she first dyed her hair blonde, Lena told W magazine about her change in appearance.

“I always consider our hair—my hair—to be a collaboration. We like to try new strange identities; we like it to be odd and funny and reference something. Rheanne and I had this idea of like a sixties Vidal Sassoon-y cut and we felt that making it blonde would take it to the next level.”

As it turns out, she dyed her hair the first time around to promote her book, Not That Kind of Girl.

“I really want people to feel that the character on the show isn’t the person who wrote the book. The concept came from looking at pictures of Agnes Varda. She has this purple bowl cut she’s been doing since probably Vidal Sassoon cut her hair in the ’70s. She’s a big idol of mine.”

What do you think? Is Dunham continuing her homage to director Agnes Varda with her mint green look?
