‘Pretty Little Liars’ Christmas Episode Sneak Peek: When Is the ‘Big’ ‘A’ Reveal Coming?

The Pretty Little Liars Halloween special may not have been what fans are used to seeing but it did feature stories from the cast and crew, as Zap2it has reported, along with a tease about what to come when it comes to the big “A” reveal date.

Creator Marlene King has teased that the reveal of “A” on Pretty Little Liars is coming sooner than many fans probably think, and in fact, she has pretty much set a deadline, so start the (tentative) countdown.

“I think fans got a little worried when they found out we were going seven seasons, because they thought maybe they’re going to have to wait that long to find out who ‘A’ is, but I am promising you that you don’t. The identity of big ‘A’ is going to be revealed before Season 7 starts.”

While the end may not be in sight for the ABC Family hit, there is already a plan in place to explore life for these girls after high school, as Oliver Goldstick has teased, which gives the writers more stories to tell for Aria, Spencer, Hanna, Emily and Alison — assuming all of them survive, that is.

“There is an endgame, there is an ‘A,’ there is a future for these girls beyond Rosewood. There is life after high school. There’s still more to be explored.”

With PLL already renewed through Season 7, it gives them time to shelve some characters and bring them back at a later date and, based on what Julian Morris told Entertainment Weekly, that could very well be true of Wren making a return appearance.

“Marlene [King] and I had breakfast a couple weeks ago and really talked about the character. He’s definitely still very much part of the realm of PLL. Really good ideas have been discussed. There’s a lot [potential] to come back, even if it’s just a little bit.”

But first, let’s look to the more immediate future, which includes the holiday special, “How the ‘A’ Stole Christmas,” during which the girls will be trying to clear Spencer’s name after she was arrested for murder in the midseason finale. It’s not going to be a jolly Christmas because they’re also dealing with losing Mona, but perhaps that can change if they can find a way to bring down Alison. Meanwhile, Alison is going to be dealing with her own problems with a look at the past, present and future thanks to a ghostly presence.

The promo for the Christmas special, which you can watch below, shows that it’s not over yet. Do mean girls stay mean? What’s happening to Alison? Who has a knife? Will a Christmas wish come true for even just one of the girls?

The Pretty Little Liars Christmas episode airs Tuesday, December 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family.
