Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard Separate

Another celebrity couple has fallen. Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard have separated.

Reuters reports that Deschanel, 31, and Gibbard, 35, have been married for two years. The reason for the split is not known, but Deschanel’s publicist Lauren Auslander described the split as “amicable” and said that “there was no third party involved.”

Deschanel and Gibbard have both had busy years this year. Deschanel’s career is currently on a high note. The “500 Days of Summer” actress has her own show on Fox, “The New Girl,” and just released a Christmas album with her band She and Him. Gibbard is the lead singer for the band Postal Service and is currently working on the 7th studio album for his band Death Cab for Cutie.

Deschanel and Gibbard were married near Seattle in 2009. They were introduced by their mutual manager three years ago.

In a recent interview with New York Magazine, Gibbard talked about the first time he met Zooey. Gibbard said:

“I’d seen her movies and obviously I thought she was very beautiful… I was just awestruck that she was even talking to me.”

Zooey Deschanel and Ben Gibbard lasted for more than two years. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, just 72 days.
