Every Year People Worship ‘Weeping Tree’ In California Despite Scientists Having A Plausible Explanation For The ‘Miracle’

Miracles have been quite a common occurrence in many religions. However, modern science has always played spoilsport and perhaps the same thing is happening in California, where a ‘weeping tree’ is being discredited as a miracle by the scientific community.

“When you say ‘glory be to God in Jesus’ name’ the tree starts throwing out more water,” says parishioner Maria Ybarra. He is referring to a tree outside St. John’s Cathedral, which is said to weep God’s tears this time, every year. A large number of Catholics, believing the miracle, routinely throng to church hoping to witness the miracle, reported KGPE-TV. Parishioner Ybarra was the first person to feel the drops of liquid, which began falling from the Crape Myrtle tree. One of the first persons to respond to the same was Rosemarie Navarro who said, “I said my prayer and asked the Lord to give me a miracle cause I’m really, really sick,”

However, as is always the case, scientists have an explanation ready. Fresno arborist Jon Reelhorn says there’s a scientific explanation for the falling liquid and the devout Catholics will not like it – the excrement of insects known as aphids or tree lice.

“The aphids will suck the sap, the sap goes through the aphid and then it is honey dew excrement from the aphid and it gets so heavy in the summertime that it will drip down.”

Reelhorn also pointed out that other trees on the same street have liquid dripping from them as well. Entomologist Richard Covelo confirmed Reelhorn’s analysis, reported Fox 29. Explaining the phenomenon, he said.

“Crape Myrtle trees as a generality can get really high populations of Crape Myrtle aphids and at times it can look so bad that it looks like the tree is raining out of it with all the honey dew dripping down.”

But Catholics, who make a beeline to the church, remain unfazed. Some parishioners remain strongly convinced that there is something more to the tree than some insect pooping what looks like drops of liquid. Summarizing the collective sentiment, parishioner Janine Esquivel-Oji said.

“They can say it’s this theory, that theory, the tree does this every year, it’s odd when it happens when there is bunch of people praying. When you are asking the Holy Spirit to reveal itself and then it happens all of a sudden and it’s still here.”

Concurring with Janine, parishioner Ybarra said.

“I can tell you looking at it from a scientific standpoint and a spiritual standpoint it is the work of God manifesting here on earth.”

Miracle or not, believers can be seen congregating outside the church praying religiously.
