Renée Zellweger Unrecognizable As She Steps Out For First Time In Months

Renée Zellweger has not appeared on-screen since 2010, so many people remember her fresh-faced, curvy-cheeked look from such hit films as Jerry Maguire and Bridget Jones’s Diary. So, when she appeared at an event Monday night almost unrecognizable to media and fans, some eyebrows were raised.

The Mirror wrote that its writers initially mistook her for Cameron Diaz. Zellweger, who is now 45, had not been spotted by press for months before stepping out at the event in California. Noting her taut cheeks and eyes, the publication also compared her to a blonde Juliette Lewis. The actress looked little like her old self, however.

Zellweger was at Elle’s 21st annual Women in Hollywood Awards where she appeared at the podium and before media cameras.

The Mirror pointed out that Zellweger looked happy as she strolled the red carpet with her boyfriend, musician Doyle Bramhall II. There are reports the pair are planning to adopt a child. The publication quoted a Radar Online source that said Zellweger wants to expand her family.

“Renee tries to find the positive side of things, she knows 44 isn’t too old to be a mum. It will just have to happen a little differently than she always imagined it would.”

The Daily Mail called Zellweger’s look “winning” as she wore a knee-length embroidered black dress.

Zellweger fought back against rumors of an eating disorder last year by speaking to The Express about how the speculation bothered her.

“When you read reports that you are starving yourself or that you are anorexic it’s very unfair and disappointing. It’s not very pleasant to read reports which say you’ve gone too far or this or that. I have a lifestyle that involves keeping my sanity by going to the gym.”

Zellweger gained weight to play Bridget Jones, a role for which she is still fondly remembered. As for her potential appearance in the third installment of the franchise, The Irish Independent reports Zellweger is interested, but she doesn’t know what’s happening with the movie.

“It would be fun. I have no idea. I’m not being cagey. I just don’t know.”

Hugh Grant, who appeared in the first two films along with Zellweger in 2001 and 2004, pulled out of the new movie as previously reported by The Inquisitr.

Meanwhile, Zellweger is returning to the big screen. She has recently completed The Whole Truth, a thriller co-starring Keanu Reeves, which is currently in post-production. She is also due to appear in a new drama, Same Kind of Different As Me.
