Nicholas Brendon Going To Rehab To Treat 'Medical Ailments' And 'Emotional Demons'

Nicholas Brendon is going to rehab to treat his "medical ailments" and "emotional demons," according to a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Monday.

Brendon used the statement to apologize to his family and fans, emphasizing just how much he regrets disappointing them as well as himself with his "unacceptable behavior."

"I apologize. Usually those words end a message like this but I am beginning with them to emphasize how much I regret disappointing my family, my fans, and myself... I make no excuse for my unacceptable behavior."
The 43-year old Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor also explained the events that led up to him mixing alcohol and prescription pills in the first place. According to his statement, Nicholas Brendon used the prescription medication to "manage a cyst" located behind his knee cap which was scheduled for corrective surgery on Monday. While taking the medication, Brendon made the "poor decision" to mix it with alcohol.
"For the past 5 days, I have been taking prescription pain medication to help me manage a cyst behind my knee cap...I made the poor decision to mix this prescribed medication with alcohol. The result was embarrassing and unacceptable."
Before apologizing again, Nicholas Brendon then stated that he will be seeking "appropriate treatment and therapy" for his "medical ailments" and "emotional demons." Nicholas views this apology as an official mark of "the beginning of my recovery." Brendon then asks his friends, family and fans for their "understanding" and "support" as he takes the steps necessary to pursue rehabilitation.
"During this difficult time, I appreciate understanding as I pursue rehabilitation -- and I value support as I earn redemption with my family, friends, and fans."
If Brendon decides to go to rehab, it will not be the first time. Nicholas Brendon checked into the SOBA Recovery Center located in Malibu for his addiction to sleeping pills and alcohol back in 2010, according to FOX News.

The news of Nicholas Brendon being arrested on Friday night was first reported by TMZ.

Police stated that Nicholas caused a domestic disturbance in an Idaho hotel lobby and was arrested after refusing to cooperate with the officers.
