Karina Smirnoff Suffers Serious Injury: Is She Done ‘Dancing’ For Good?
Karina Smirnoff suffered a serious injury during Dancing with the Stars rehearsals last week, and now some are questioning whether or not she will be able to return to the show this season… or next. According to E! News, Karina was dancing with Tony Dovolani when something went terribly wrong. Tony revealed just what went down — and it sounds pretty gruesome!
“She went to wet her shoes so that we could have better traction… she slipped and ran into the stairs with her shin, her arm. I was so afraid because I saw half of it, basically on her way down. I thought she would hit her face or neck or anything like that, so luckily she didn’t,” Tony explained.
It definitely sounds like Karina was banged up — but will her injuries keep her from dancing?
Karina Smirnoff didn’t want to go to the hospital, but Tony says that he forced her to go. While she seemed to be okay walking on her leg, Tony says that he hopes she takes it easy and that her injury is just a bad bruise. When asked how Karina was doing, Tony said that she is “in pain.” However, if she didn’t break her leg, it is possible that you’ll see her back on DWTS before the season ends.
Smirnoff took to her Instagram account to post the following message and photo.
“So sad I’m not able to perform tonight on the show. Got hurt yesterday rehearsing. Now, some TLC and I’ll be back stronger then ever! thank u for ur support, guys. Love u! (sic)”
Fans are happy to know that Karina is not down and out. If she needs to take a few weeks to recover, many will be okay with that. Since she was already voted off the show, she might as well take time to rest up and come back with her A-game. There are still quite a few weeks left of the show, so it’s very possible that Karina will make it back to dance with her fellow pros. If nothing more, perhaps a dance during the season finale would be a nice “welcome back” for her.
Karina Smirnoff has posted a few pics online since her injury, and she is definitely in good spirits. Hopefully she’s got some good company during this recovery process. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Karina has been dating Orange is the New Black star Pablo Schreiber.
