Dreamforce Convention Brings Tons Of Stars
The industry convention Dreamforce 2014 is under way, with the second official Dreamforce day bringing plenty of important figures and celebrities to entertain and inspire the audience. Dreamforce is taking place at San Francisco in the Civic Center, featuring keynote speakers and legendary musicians to raise money for the Benioff’s Children’s Hospital. Dreamforce brought many big names to the stage including Bruno Mars, The Beach Boys, and Cake.
Hilary Clinton was invited to give a keynote speech at Dreamforce, according to CBS News, which she delivered yesterday to thousands of excited guests. At the end of her speech, Clinton received a standing ovation from the Dreamforce crowd. Part of Clinton’s keynote was introducing a program called “Talk, Read, Sing,” which she organized to help with the education of children in early development. Clinton put together hundreds of care packages for new parents at Dreamforce at Benioff’s Children’s Hospital. She filled the Dreamforce tote bags with clothes, books, and other things to encourage parents to talk, read, and sing to their infant children.
“When parents read and talk and sing with their children from the very earliest days, we’re talking about the beginning, it is helping them learn words, build vocabulary,” said Clinton.
Marc Benioff, the CEO of Salesforce, the company running the Dreamforce convention, also spoke at the convention. Benioff recently donated to San Francisco schools. After Benioff’s keynote, the Beach Boys made a surprise appearance on the Dreamforce stage to perform and help raise money for the philanthropist’s cause.
Forbes reported on what people can expect from this year’s Dreamforce, including Hilary Clinton discussing the World Economic Forum and Salesforce announcing an update to Dreamforce’s last major release, Salesforce1. The updated platform will be called Lightning and it will help users build their own apps faster and easier.
“Lightning offers pre-coded components like a search feature as well as basic use cases you might have like employee onboarding,” writes Forbes.
But according to ABC News, the big Dreamforce announcement this year was a product called Wave Analytics, which is a software platform that allows all businesses, including small business, to use big data.
“It allows them to figure out, really rapidly, that you know, if you meet a customer more than three times, they’re never going to buy from you. They just want to talk to you,” said the CEO of Selligy, Nilay Patel.
For the entertainment side of Dreamforce, Bruno Mars and Cake performed on Tuesday in two Dreamforce benefit concerts intended to raise $9 million for Benioff’s Children’s Hospital.
Finally, Will.I.am made an appearance at Dreamforce to discuss a new wearable tech device that he’ll be launching.
“I was one of those disadvantaged kids from the projects. Education is what brings me here today,” said the Black Eyed Peas star.
