Nurse Kills 38 Patients: Nurse Arrested For Killing ‘Annoying’ Patients, Taking Pics With Their Dead Corpses

A nurse kills 38 patients because she felt they were “annoying” — and then she takes selfies with their dead corpses. Yes, this story is real. The 42-year-old nurse from Italy allegedly decided to give out “hefty doses of potassium chloride” to some of her patients at Lugo hospital according to The New York Daily News. Daniela Poggiali was arrested after a death investigation stemming from an unusual case earlier this year.

“Police investigated the mysterious death of a 78-year-old patient in April. The woman died suddenly after coming to the hospital with a routine illness. Tests showed she died with a lethal dose of potassium in her system,” reports The New York Daily News.

The nurse who killed 38 patients wanted the last laugh, apparently. She allegedly asked other staff members to take photos of her next to the dead bodies. At least one staff member told investigators that Poggiali asked for her to snap a pic of her next to one of the patients she was allegedly responsible for killing, this according to Mail Online.

“There are the other 38 cases of suspicious deaths and of these, ten are very suspicious. Investigations are continuing, but there are insurmountable difficulties,” said chief prosecutor Alessandro Mancini.

Poggiali was described by her co-workers as being “cold.” She did have a strong desire to work, but it seems clear now that she had a very dark side. Reports say that Poggiali was “unperturbed” when she was taken into police custody. It is unknown how many murders she will be held accountable for, but if tests prove that all of these patients died from the same cause (potassium chloride overdose), Poggiali will likely face 38 counts of premeditated murder.

A nurse that kills 38 patients and then takes pictures with their dead bodies obviously has some kind of problem. It’s unknown if Poggiali has obtained an attorney or if she will get a lesser sentence due to being mentally unstable (or suffering from some kind of mental disorder). According to The Inquisitr, co-workers were sort of tipped off by possible shenanigans because patients’ conditions would “worsen” during Poggiali’s shifts. Often these patients would end up passing away but nothing really peculiar happened at the hospital when Poggiali wasn’t working. Little by little, things started making sense — even if they didn’t make sense at all.

It is unknown if police have obtained Poggiali’s cell phone and/or found the supposed selfies that she took with the dead bodies.
