‘I Have Been A Gun Owner Since Kindergarten,’ Says Brad Pitt

When you think of Brad Pitt, what comes to mind? Lt. Aldo Rain, Tyler Durden, or perhaps Joe Black? Pitt has been in a myriad of films, and played a wealth of characters. Despite the many fairly violent films he has been involved in, he is generally thought to be your average gun control advocate, like many of his politically liberal Hollywood colleagues.

In fact, some Hollywood celebrities made a video in 2012 demanding laws to restrict guns, The Inquisitr reported.

“Beyonce Knowles, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx, Amy Poehler and several other celebrities release a video to demanding a plan to end gun violence. The video, which also includes Joel McHale, Reese Witherspoon and Chris Rock, was made for DemandaPlan.org, an organization that was started to urge congress to act on gun control.”

Many have cited that there is a sense of hypocrisy, especially when most of these movie stars are often in violent films. Despite the seemingly endless brigade of celebrities, who seem to have a negative opinion of guns, it would appear one celebrity has a different opinion.

Brad Pitt, the aforementioned celebrity who is popular for his action and fairly violent films, said he has owned guns since he was in Kindergarten. The Independent reports that Pitt has been a gun owner from a very young age. The Fury star has said that, for him, growing up with guns was a “right of passage.”

“There’s a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors’ weapons. My brother got my dad’s. I got my grandfather’s shotgun when I was in kindergarten.”

He stated that he was first given an air gun, and by the age of 6, he owned a shotgun. According to Breitbart, Brad Pitt fired a hand gun by the age of 8. To this day, Pitt is a strong gun advocate and owner, stating he does not “feel that his family is safe unless there is a gun in the home”.

The Independent reports that Brad Pitt explained how this seemingly unusual history of gun ownership affected his life.

“The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon.”

For those following “Brangelina’s” life, this probably would appear less unusual. Pitt spent $400,000 to buy his current wife, Angelina Jolie, a gun range, Breitbart states. Presumably, this means both Brad and Angelina take time to practice shooting Brad Pitt’s guns.
