Channing Tatum Has Dance Offs With Wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum

These days Channing Tatum is hard at work but when he’s not on a film lot, he’s at home being a father to daughter Everly. That said, Tatum and his wife Jenna Dewan-Tatum seem like they know how to have plenty of fun at home.

In a recent interview with Redbook magazine, Tatum opened up about home life, and how exciting it really is.

The two, who met on the set of the dance movie Step Up, still continue the tradition of the dance off, but now it’s at home.

“Dance battles do sort of happen, to be honest.”

Tatum continued in a joking manner as he explains his routine at home with Jenna.

“When we wake up in the morning, we put on music, and while Everly’s eating we dance and it just starts to get stupid. Changing the baby is an intermission — but our daughter hates getting her diaper changed, so it’s almost like a break-dancing battle to get it on her. As soon as you lay her down, she’s bridging out of it and doing some jiu-jitsu windmill. It’s pretty intense.”

One place that Jenna Dewan-Tatum didn’t find too fun? On the set of Foxcatcher, which is the new film that sees Tatum playing real life Olympic wrestler Mark Schlutz. The filming was intense, and Tatum zoned in and completely became Mark for the film. For Jenna, it wasn’t exactly the set visit she expected.

At the time she was pregnant and visited Tatum to find him in a somber mood. After a few days she cut her trip down and left. “This is not fun at all. This is an emotional place,” she had said.

Tatum explained back in May to Variety about the misconceptions about wrestling.

“Wrestling is an intimate thing. It’s weird from an outsider’s perspective. ‘It’s very homosexual’ — I’ve gotten that a lot. I always say just come on and try it out, you’ll realize how non-homosexual it is. It’s too painful and violent.”

Currently Tatum is in a better place and is filming the upcoming sequel to Magic Mike, which sounds like a lighter experience. Although Dewan-Tatum is working on her own television show, she still had time to be a bit more hands on as Tatum stepped back into his role. According to Tatum, she approved all of his stripper moves.

Speaking of the choreographers, who just happen to be friends with Jenna from her previous career as a dancer, Tatum explained, “I work it out with them and then I go show Jenna for approval.”
