Passengers Terrified As Interior Walls Of American Airlines 757 Rip Apart Midair! [Video]

American Airlines flight 2293 had a plane full of terrified passengers as the interior walls of the plane began to rip apart midair. The plane carrying 184 passengers left from San Francisco towards Dallas when an emergency landing had to be made. James Wilson, 32, said he and other fellow flyers “knew something was wrong when they felt the fuselage begin to shake violently and heard popping noises outside the Boeing 757 shortly after take-off,” as reported by Daily Mail.

Wilson described the terrifying moment to ABC 7 News.

“All of the sudden we heard this loud pop, pop, pop, pop, pop really loud and a ripping sound. It sounded like bowling balls were falling from the overhead bins. It was terrifying. We didn’t know what was going on. We were all shouting for the flight crew, ‘Come look! The walls are caving in!'”

The interior panels on the entire Row 14 on both sides of the cabin, from floor to ceiling, had pulled apart from the walls, exposing insulation. The passengers feared they would crash as they also experienced “a change in cabin pressure due to a possible blown air duct,” according to The Daily Mail.

Wilson began texting his wife who was picking him up at the Dallas airport to inform her of the situation in case of a crash. Wilson also began snapping photos and posting them on Facebook asking his family and friends to pray for him, explaining the situation. Wilson also asked friends to contact his wife in case his text messages weren’t getting through to her, as reported by ABC 7 News.

“American Flight 2293 depressurized and started coming apart mid air. Please pray for us.”

The flight crew kept looking to see if they could see daylight behind the crack and insulation. Much to the passengers’ dismay, the captain announced that the flight would continue towards their destination to Dallas because there was no indication of the cabin pressure being unstable.

It was a grueling long 45 minutes until the captain made his way into the cabin to assess the damage first hand for himself. The captain immediately changed his mind at that point and determined he needed to turn the plane around and make an emergency landing back in San Francisco.

Once, American Airlines flight 2293 landed safely, and no one was injured, Wilson, along with the other passengers, began making arrangements to find their way to their final destinations. Wilson was a little miffed at the lack of good customer service he received from American Airlines considering all they had been through. He was simply given a telephone number to call in order to find his own transportation.

According to The Daily Mail, “American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller said the cause of the incident is being investigated as a possible blown air duct.” The plane will not be back in flight until a thorough investigation is complete.

In the meantime, Wilson posted on Facebook.

“Finally got another flight. Safer traveling from here on out I hope! Driving next time!”
