WWE: Vince McMahon Announces Smackdown And Tribute To The Troops 2014 Will Be At Fort Benning

The WWE Tribute to the Troops is said to honor the grand tradition of Bob Hope by having wrestlers entertain American military personnel both overseas and in the United States. For 2014, Vince McMahon says the annual event will be held at Fort Benning, Georgia.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, it’s rumored that Vince McMahon may have sidelined Paul Heyman in order to make Brock Lesnar’s absence from the ring not appear so obvious. The WWE Universe has been criticizing the current functionality of WWE Network, and one idea being floated around is the possibility for an exclusive WWE Network Championship that pits NXT and WWE superstars against each other.

Vince McMahon and Georgia State Governor Nathan Deal announced that WWE Tribute To The Troops 2014 will be held on Tuesday, December 9 at the Columbus Civic Center at United States Army post Fort Benning.

“The commitment and bravery displayed by our servicemen and women are unparalleled and worthy of praise,” said Governor Deal. “This annual Tribute to the Troops event provides us the opportunity to express our sincerest gratitude to those who put our safety above their own, and we’re excited WWE has chosen to host this event in the great state of Georgia.”

“We appreciate the long-time support WWE has offered our troops,” said Colonel Michail Huerter, Fort Benning Garrison Commander. “Tribute to the Troops is a unique opportunity for our soldiers and their families to come out and enjoy a show that thanks them for their service.”

“For 12 consecutive years, WWE has been entertaining American military personnel both overseas and domestically as a way to thank them for their commitment and sacrifice for our country,” said Vince McMahon. “Our servicemen and women work tirelessly for our freedom and we are proud to continue the Tribute to the Troops tradition with our partners at Ft. Benning and Governor Deal.”

According to Wrestling Inc., WWE Tribute To The Troop 2014 will take place on December 9, 2014 and will be limited to military personnel and their families stationed at Fort Benning. As an extra special holiday treat this year, Fort Benning will be the host for the taping of WWE Smackdown in conjunction with WWE Tribute To The Troops. The day after the show, December 10, WWE Divas and WWE Superstars will be visiting with the military personnel at Be a STAR anti-bullying rallies, hospital visits, and career workshops. The nationally televised version of WWE Tribute To The Troops 2014 will be announced at a later date for NBC.
