NBA Players Sign “World Tour” Contracts As Lockout Talks Stall

Details are beginning to surface about a six-game, four-continent exhibition tour that will be played by NBA Players. Under the plan being put together by Atlanta businessman Cal Darden 18 top ranking NBA players will participate in a world tour while the NBA lockout continues.

According to insiders 14 of 18 players have already signed contracts worth anywhere from six figures to $1 million per exhibition game.

Among players approached for the tour have been NBA MVP Derrick Rose along with LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

If all goes as planned the first exhibition game will take place in Puerto Rico on October 30 and will also feature two games in London, two games in Australia and a single game in Macau.

Speaking on condition of anonymity several NBA agents have said they are curious to see how Darden plans to honor his large contractual promises. Aside from their huge per game figures players will be covered for insurance, travel and security costs in four different countries.

Fans of the NBA looking for more information may be able to find details about the tour starting on Monday.

NBA owners are attempting to hurt players through a non-paid lockout and now it looks like the leagues biggest stars could end up earning even bigger paydays without them.

Would you watch an NBA player exhibition in another country if you have the chance?
