NYPD Cop Confronts 17-Year-Old Marcel Hamer About Smoking And Knocks Him Out [Video]
This video footage of a NYPD cop knocking out a teenage boy in Brooklyn was leaked online Wednesday.
According to a report released by the New York Daily News, 17-year-old Marcel Hamer was stopped by the NYPD cop (who was dressed in plain clothes) on June 4 in Clinton Hill. Hamer was approached by the officer because he thought the young man was smoking marijuana on the street.
The actual footage starts with Marcel Hamer lying down on with his body on both the sidewalk and the street, shouting in pain. You can hear Marcel pleading with the NYPD cop in the footage, stating that what he was smoking was only a cigarette.
“Mister, it was just a cigarette, sir. It was just a cigarette.”
The NYPD cop used graphic language with the young man in this 54-second video, threatening him as he held one of Marcel’s arms in his hand.
“You wanna get f****d up?”
Even though the actual knockout strike was not completely captured in the video, the distinct sound of a punch can heard clearly. As the NYPD cop then attempted to place handcuffs on Marcel Hamer after the blow, he encouraged the person recording the footage to continue filming.
“Yeah, get it on film!”
The NYPD cop is then heard trying to communicate with Hamer, instructing him to “turn around.” However, Marcel Hamer was unresponsive for the rest of the video. Another NYPD cop who was also undercover at the time is seen trying to help the first cop cuff Hamer. At one point during the footage, according to LiveLeak, it seems as though the second cop tried to reach in Marcel’s back pocket.
That was when Marcel’s friends started shouting that the NYPD cop had knocked him out.
Since this incident occurred, according to the New York Daily News, the NYPD cop in the video has been suspended. The other cop that was present at the scene of the incident was also stripped of his gun and badge. Further reports show that the NYPD Internal Affairs Bureau is currently investigating this incident as well.
