High School Teacher, Recently Incarcerated, Allegedly Pregnant With Student’s Baby

Pacelli High School teacher Mary F. Gilles was arrested and then fired after having sex with a student. The case against 28-year-old Gilles has become more complicated, after personal emails between the two revealed a possible new development.

The Minnesota Catholic school’s math teacher may be pregnant.

School administrator Laura Marreel told police that the two had been seen by a staff member talking at a late hour prior to Gilles’ arrest. There is no firm evidence yet that she is indeed pregnant, but if she is, it could complicate the investigation and lead to the possible added consequence of child support.

It is unknown who will pay for the child support, though with Gilles behind bars on a $60,000 bail, the responsibility may unfortunately fall on the 17-year-old victim of the sexual assault.

As previously reported by The Inquisitr, this wouldn’t be the first time that a sexual assault victim ended up paying for the crime. Fourteen-year-old Nick Olivas had been raped by his babysitter, and then forced by the State of Arizona to pay child support several years later.

Suspicions surrounded the relationship between high school teacher Mary Gilles and her math student for months, and were confirmed on Monday. The two had been having a close sexual relationship since February, according to the Star Tribune. Due to his age, and the fact that Gilles was obviously more than four years older during the course of it, her actions constitute rape of a minor, and consent isn’t a factor.

Gilles admitted that she and the student had been engaging in intercourse at least once a month. Her student claims he always used a condom, so the claims of possible pregnancy may have been “just in case” conversations. The other possibility is that she is carrying his baby after the condom broke.

The Diocese of Winona remains steadfast in the belief that the Catholic High School teacher took advantage of a minor.

“Our prayers go out to those who have suffered child sexual abuse and who have been harmed. We encourage anyone with information regarding child sexual abuse to immediately report that information to law enforcement and we remain committed to protect all God’s children.”

A day after the discovery of their sexual relationship and Gilles’ arrest, the Pacelli Catholic High School decided to terminate her as an employee.

A lot has changed since Van Halen released their hit song “Hot for Teacher,” and high school teacher Mary Gilles is paying the price for it. If she’s pregnant, she and her math student may be paying for it for the next 18 years.
