Cate Edwards, Trevor Upham to Wed Saturday

, the daughter of late Elizabeth Edwards and former Presidential candidate John Edwards, is all set to marry long-term boyfriend Trevor Upham on Saturday at her family’s North Carolina home.

According to the NY Times, Edwards and Upham – who met back in 2002 when they were students at Princeton University – sent out 150 invitations to the event, which sources say will start on Thursday with welcoming cocktails and wrap up with a “weekend of parties.”

Although Cate is saddened that her mom, who died from breast cancer last December at the age of 61, will not be present to share her joy during the big day, she is grateful for the time they spent together planning the wedding during her mother’s final weeks.

In an article for the November issue of Glamour magazine, Cate wrote:

“I feel so lucky to have shared that joy with her, to have had the time to leaf through bridal magazines together and talk about the wedding. I feel blessed because, in her last weeks, she told me she was comforted to know I’d set forth on my own life path, with someone she loved and respected, and with whom she truly believed I would be happy.”

Former Sen. John Edwards, currently facing charges of inappropriately using campaign contributions to cover up a lengthy extra-marital affair, will walk Cate down the aisle.
