Nintendo 3DS November update adding 3D video capture support, more

At an event in Munich held earlier today, Nintendo announced that the Nintendo 3DS’ next firmware update is due out in November, and it’s expected to add in 3D video content and improvements to various services.

In addition to the ability to record 3D video, the update will bring about improvements to the StreetPass Mii Plaza, and the Nintendo 3DS eShop. Nintendo World Report says that a new StreetPass game will be included in the update, but there are no details beyond that.

Andriasang reports that Nintendo will be holding yet another event on Friday, where they’ll offer more details on the November Nintendo 3DS firmware update, as well as a few details on Mario Kart 7‘s wireless functionality.

Back in June, Nintendo released a firmware that introduced the Nintendo 3DS eShop, nearly four months after launch. The eShop was originally slated to launch in “late May”, but was pushed back for undisclosed reasons.

Nintendo has been struggling to push sales of the handheld since its release in February of this year. While not a total flop, the Nintendo 3DS failed to match up to its predecessor, the Nintendo DS. In August, however, Nintendo reported a 260% increase in sales over the previous month, due in no small part to the price cut.
